A5.1.1.1 Delayed-onset acute headache attributed to moderate or severe traumatic injury to the headHartmut Gobel2018-01-31T16:03:36+00:00

Diagnostic criteria:

1. Any headache fulfilling criteria C and D
2. Traumatic injury to the head has occurred, associated with at least one of the following:
   1. loss of consciousness for >30 minutes
   2. Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) <13
   3. post-traumatic amnesia lasting >24 hours
   4. alteration in level of awareness for >24 hours
   5. imaging evidence of a traumatic head injury such as skull fracture, intracranial haemorrhage and/or brain contusion
3. Headache is reported to have developed between 7 days and 3 months after all of the following:
   1. the head injury
   2. regaining of consciousness following the head injury (when applicable)
4. discontinuation of medication(s) impairing ability to sense or report headache following the head injury (when applicable)
5. Either of the following:
   1. headache has resolved within 3 months after its onset
   2. headache has not yet resolved but 3 months have not yet passed since its onset
6. Not better accounted for by another ICHD-3 diagnosis.
